Disadvantages of electrostatic oil mist eliminator

Although the electrostatic oil mist eliminator has the advantages of high efficiency filtration capacity and low long-term operation cost, it also has some disadvantages.

1. The electrostatic oil mist eliminator is only effective for pure oil mist processing, the effect on emulsified liquid is not so good , and the water mist is easy to cause short circuit or electrode burning when it encounters the electrode.

2. If the workpiece is made of magnesium-aluminum alloy material, the ignition point is only 38 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius. Once the alloy powder is sucked into the oil mist eliminator, there will be safety hazards.

3. Once large particles of impurities are sucked into the electrostatic oil mist eliminator, the oil mist eliminator will self-protect and cut off the power. To restart the oil mist eliminator, the impurities need to be removed, otherwise the electrode is easy to break.

4. The electrode material is made of multiple aluminum plates connected together, and the price varies according to the thickness of the aluminum plate. If the price is low, the thickness of the aluminum plate is thin (0.8mm). Since the electrode needs to be frequently maintained and cleaned, and the cleaning requires the use of ultrasonic cleaning machines + chemical agents, the aluminum plate is prone to corrosion if it is cleaned several times (cutting fluid/oil will also cause oxidation corrosion of the electrode), resulting in poor results. If the electrode is broken, the replacement cost will be calculated in thousand. The surface of foreign electrode aluminum plates needs to be plated with precious metals, mainly for corrosion resistance, and the surface is smoother after plating with precious metals, and oil molecules are easily knocked off. In order to save costs, domestic electrodes do not have this process.

5. Electrode ionization will release ozone, and excessive ozone content will cause physical discomfort to employees.

6. The electrode is a high-voltage electrode with a high-voltage electric field and a low-voltage electric field. The high-voltage electric field is 12000V and the low-voltage electric field is 6000V. Maintenance requires professional electricians to operate, otherwise it is easy to cause electric shock. In addition, the electrodes are too heavy and difficult to maintain.

7. The electrodes and motors of the electrostatic oil mist eliminator are both single-phase 220V, which is relatively unstable.
